Filmed in 1966 by Sergio Leone, this movie is iconic, and the quintessential spaghetti western. A trio of debauched cowboys go on a hunt for Confederate gold, getting caught up with bandits, priests, and the Civil War in various capacities. Coming in at 3 hours long, epic is not an inappropriate term for this movie.
If you like action, if you like meticulous filmmaking, if you like great characters and a legendary soundtrack that has permeated the minds of millions…do yourself a favor, watch this movie.
Although The Good the Bad and the Ugly is almost 50 years old, it still has many of the qualities that audiences today look for in a good action film, western or otherwise. Tuco and Blondie are professional scoundrels, running dirty jobs that cheat the system for large sums of money.
